I'm still here!

I don't know about you but this school year has kicked my proverbial "tush".  It's been ages since I've blogged and it sounds like I'm at confession right?  I've been on a bit of a hiatus for several reasons.  One, here in Ohio, we have a new evaluation system and I've been swamped with prepping for that with paperwork along with making sure my ducks were in a row for my formal observation.  Plus I had a walk through afterwards.  Let's just say the observation went just as planned.  My walk through, well let's just say, if it could go wrong, it did.  I had technical difficulties, one of my five intervention students fell off his chair, and four of the five had to go to the bathroom at the same time, all while my principal was observing.  We had a laugh for sure....and I guess some days are just like that.  In addition, I've had technical difficulties with my home computer and am finally "on the mend" so here I am.

Today I had a dental appointment that fell right smack dab in the middle of the day. So what's a gal to do?  Of course, I had to take the entire day off!  I slept in a little bit (2 hours more than usual), headed to the dentist, and came home to my computer.  And voila!  Don't you know I magically solved all my technical difficulties.

Needless to say, I've uploaded several new products to Teachers Pay Teachers that have been in the works for ages....and yes, I mean AGES.  One product is for Fall, and it's almost the New Year.  So I hope you don't mind if I still share all of these new items with you, even the untimely one.  One thing I know, Fall will come around again, and my product may be just what you are looking for for the upcoming school year!

My product for which I am most excited is my "African Story Vine" product.  This is a super fun way to incorporate literacy into "Black History Month/February".  An African Story Vine was a rope that had trinkets on it. Each trinket represented a story.  When slaves left Africa, with very few possessions, they could leave with their stories.  The story vine was a way to represent the rich storytelling that was part of the African tradition.  Included in the packet is a bibliography of books, a writing booklet to duplicate for students, tags/trinkets to print to attach to your rope or vine, quotes to display in your room, a sign identifying the story vine, and blanks of each item so you can incorporate your favorite stories too.  Here is a link to my store, so you can get more details!
Some of the contents are pictured below!

My next product, The Sounds of /ed/,  is just perfect for those of you teaching the three different endings of /ed/..../d/ , /t/, and /id/.  This is a perfect board game to review this skill and goes along great if you use Orton Gillingham or any other phonics program that teaches this skill. There are several versions of the game board, and several spinners that can accelerate or slow down the game, depending on the need of your students.  Here is the link so you can get more details!

Also, I created a set of Winter Word Wall Task Cards.  Adorable clip art included in this pack, just puts a smile on my face.  Different skills can be practiced while spelling words on your classroom word wall or spelling list including:  short and long vowels, consonants and vowels, syllabication, vowel teams, digraphs, and much more.  The link for these is:

And finally, my past due product which could be just what you need for next Fall....Adding up Sight Words- Fall Edition.  This includes a set of posters or task cards.  Both vowels and consonants are assigned a point value.  Then using sight words, students find the value of that word and write it on the corresponding chart in the correct spot.  This is always a hit with my students.  The link:  http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Adding-Up-Sight-Words-Fall-Edition-1611056

So that is all for now- Whew!  I'm exhausted!  If you check out any or all of these products, I would love to hear what you have to say.  Now that I'm on a roll, I have all kinds of ideas for new products. So stay tuned. I'll be back sooner than the last time!

Until next time,
Taryn
